World Autism Awareness Day

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on 2 April every year. The idea is to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.  We have a real reason to celebrate this day in 2019. A great book, A Different Kind of Brilliant, written by Louise Cummins is being launched.  We celebrate her achievement because the book is already making a difference to its main reader. Louise, who is my cousin, wrote this book for her son Lachlan. He is reflectingthe words of the book when he says, ‘my brain is wired differently, Mummy.’ This book puts a positive spin on being different and will provide a lovely scaffold for classroom teachers who are always trying to support every student in their class to be the best they can be. TRIO has written some teaching notes to be used with this book. They are available by clicking here. Find out more about this book at
