This unit has been designed for the first two weeks of kindergarten and includes the teaching of early routines and the collection of some baseline assessment information.
Teaching Kindergarten at the start of the year can be challenging. Students come expecting to learn to read. They are excited but also unsure in a new environment. This unit addresses first reading steps, starting with student’s reading their names, sharing stories and learning school routines. It has been written for the first few weeks of school and contains assessment tasks, writing worksheets and a template for individual alphabet books.
