Differentiation: Catering for Diversity in a K-6 Classroom using the English and Mathematics Syllabuses

All teachers want to improve the learning outcomes of every student in their class.

This practical workshop unpacks how to plan for differentiation using the English and mathematics syllabus in an effective and manageable way. The principles of differentiation will be explored and practical suggestions for how to address the specific learning needs of English as an additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) students, Gifted and Talented students and students with learning disabilities will be discussed.

A range of practical and simple strategies, which can be embedded in classroom practice, will be investigated. These include differentiating content, process, product and the learning environment.
